QuickBuild Traditional T-Bar is a fully machine welded structural lintel manufactured in Australia using 300MPa steel. Traditional steel sections are used in the support of brickwork over large clear openings and are not reliant on composite action. The brickwork, mortar and lintel work together to form a composite beam with exceptional strength and load-carrying capacity. Genuine Hot Dip Galvanised lintels are 40% lighter than solid lintels (and 40% easier to carry) with a high strength to weight ratio. When choosing the length required, simply keep in mind the lintel length should be based on 100mm – 250mm extra length (700mm opening will require 900mm)

The Galvanised QuickBuild ™T-Bar is an Australian designed lightweight lintel used for supporting brickwork over openings. Typically used for double brick with no cavity, some common uses include garage door openings. It is a fully welded bar and is not reliant upon composite action.

Features are:

  • Hot Dip Galvanised to AS/NZ 4680:2006
  • R3 Durability Rating in accordance with AS/NZS 2699:2002
  • Lightweight when compared to traditional Concrete/Brick Lintels
  • Available in a range of sizes.

Notes on Safe Load Tables for QuickBuild ™ Galvanised T-Bar

The QuickBuild ™ Galvanised T-Bar is imported from China, material used is Q235B, Q235 material is in accordance with PRC standard GB 700(previous version GB700-79 part A3 & C3), and here Q stands for yielding. According to PRC
National Standard GB700-88, the minimum yielding point is 235Mpa for thicknesses less than 17mm, tensile strength is between 375-400MPa, E=200~210 GPa

  • The QuickBuild ™ Galvanised T-Bar is simply supported at both ends.
  • The QuickBuild ™ Galvanised T-Bar is loaded such that the load acts vertically and equally on both sides of the web.
  • The QuickBuild ™ Galvanised T-Baris considered as being laterally unrestrained for the full span length.
  • UDL loads are constant along the length of the bar.
  • Point loads act at mid-span.
  • 150mm minimum bearing support on to brickwork.
  • Hot-dip galvanising to AS / NZS 4680:2006.
  • Loads are in accordance with AS / NZS 1170.1:2002.

Note:

  1. a minimum of three courses of bricks must be laid above the lintel beam.
  2. Load limited by deflection of 1/500 span.
  3. Yielding stress fy=235 Mpa, tensile strength fu=375Mpa for both web and flange.
  4. Mass per metre calculation is based on 7850kg/m^3.
  5. Calculate bar length is span+150mm each end.
